b"THE FAR NORTH Being so far north its a nice quiet area, even at the peak of summer and its fun to cruise along the beach in the 4WD or on motorbikes and see whats happening. Fishing aside, there are some lovely places to visit, such as Karikari Estate Winery & Restaurant (make sure you order the Pizza), Puheke Beach (is my pick of the beaches for family time), with deep soft sand and plenty of dunes, Matai Bay (is a popular campground and good for snorkeling/swimming) and as mentioned, Rangiputa is beautiful with crystal clear water, white sand, rock pools and pretty shells with a small community of tropical gardens and beach front homes. The local tackle store to visit is Reel Rods on the main road between Karikari Peninsula and Rangiputa, owner Kieron and the crew have all you need to get hooked up. Make sure that you remember your fish scales and a measure mat, because if you catch the big one, youll want to record and release it, so you leave it behind for me to catch on my next visit.Launching at Rangiputa is easyHopefully, Ill finally tick that elusive on the hard sand with good20-pound snapper off my wish list too.fishing options in the harbour.
