b"HUNTING the bottom of the clearing unaware of my presence and giving me plenty of time to take a shot.Giving Kalani the signal, I prepared for the shot and ranged it at forty-two yards at a steep downhill angle. The animal was standing perfect for a side on shot and the Easton arrow hit true dropping her quickly.Wow! I was stocked to say the least, two animals down in quick time and later that evening back at the hut and the beers tasted very sweet!DAY 2 It was a very cold and slow start at daylight, with more deer spotted over the day but with many animals too far out for the bows range.Kalani had a shot on another spiker at close range, but it ducked underneath the arrow.Unbelievable! Gary unfortunately had no luck either and we discussed plans that night over dinner for the third day of hunting. They ran uphill and then suddenly stopped, I ranged one of the ewes at 70 yards. I pulled back on the Arena compound bow and executed a Kalani scored the first deer, great shot!a spiker on the first day.Kalani had been here before, which was helpful as he knew where the clearings were with good grass patches off the track. Steep drop offs along the track had some decent feed on them for the deer to have a quick snack and then pop back into the cover. We found plenty of recent sign and it didn't take long before Kalani had a close shot on a young spiker and after a quick blood trail track, he found the animal which he carried back up the steep hill for pick up later and put it into the shade. That was a very promising start to the trip, and we hoped the next couple of days continued from this successful first hunt.We carried on up the hill and came across another clearing and I was up front this time, moving quietly andThe Easton arrows with stopping often. When to my surprise,OZCUT broadheads were there was a nice doe standing right atproving a lethal combination.82FISHING IN GODZONE JUL/AUG 2023"
