b'Flying into Fiordland after witnessing the stunning scenery and landing on top of Tutoko II is one of the highlights for Dive Zones Tony Plank.EPIC CHOPPER RIDEA solid hapuka (groper) comes onboard The next morning, we head out on myTutoko II to help feed the team.favourite highlight of these trips, the stunning helicopter ride out to the boat. The team at Southern Lakes Helicopters do a great job transporting all of us and our dive gear on an amazingly scenic flight from Te Anau across Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri and onto the boat in Supper Cove at the top of Dusky Sound. Landing on a boat in the middle of Fiordland in a chopper is something every Kiwi should do at least once in their lifetime! Now the diving can begin. Dave and the crew of the Tutoko II get us settled and we head for dive site number one. What follows is four days of amazing wall dives checking out black coral, sea pens, seven gill sharks, seals and of course crayfish! We break up our wall diving with a dive on the wreck of the Waikare which sank in 1910. With our trip in the beginning of March, it means that the water temperature is a balmy 16 degrees, so 7mm wetsuits, hoods, and gloves were all that was needed to keep warm. The colder freshwater layer on the top wasnt too deep as they hadnt received much rain this summer./FISHINGINGODZONE37'
