SETTING UP Walking down the hill into the basin with all the decoys and I counted about 30 mallards, a few spoonies and a dozen protected teal which soon all got off and flew away. This at least looked promising for the next day. I set up the decoys on the northern side of the dam and then built my maimai on the southern position, directly across from the decoys. This worked well the previous year, but the lake then was a lot smaller, and the birds came in closer to where we were hidden. 66 FISHING IN GODZONE MAGAZINE Hunting
