This issue occurs when water gets into the bearing 
hub and displaces the grease or breaks down the 
grease structure, so it won’t lubricate the bearings.
This happens when hot hubs enter the 
cold water, from worn or damaged seals or 
submersion during launching and retrieving.
Once water is inside the grease emulsifies losing 
lubrication, rust starts to form on bearings, metal-to-
metal contact increases which causes heat and wear, 
eventually leading to bearing failure or seizure.
