The Kia Tasman meets the
Tasman, driving on Ripiro Beach
off Northland’s west coast.
Featuring an overall width of
1,930mm, the Tasman has a best-
in-class tub capacity to fit up to
1,212L of cargo in the tub.
From the front the striking front
grille gets your attention and then the
purposeful wheel arches, all provide
a look of strength or toughness
and potential capability. It's a ute
that might be considered an ugly
duckling, but when you step inside
the cabin and drive the Tasman, it
changes your perception instantly.
Kia has excelled by redefining
comfort with advanced tech,
premium controls, spacious rear
seats, and hidden storage under
the rear seats for work or long-
distance travel. The cabin design
is both tough and thoughtfully
refined. Passengers all comment
about the head space and roomy
cabin, while the industrial metal-
style door handle is a small
thing but is often a favourite.
As one of the leading cabins
in the ute segment, Tasman's
interior is built to keep you
comfortable and in control.
Enhanced safety comfort
and convenience
The Tasman features innovative
technology including a near 30”
Panoramic Display, Highway
Driving Assist 2, trailer-optimised
ADAS, remote parking assist,
panoramic displays, and advanced
noise-reduction systems
for comfort and safety.
I collected the ute from TMC
dealership in Tauranga, and I had
waited for the brand-new vehicle
for several days to be unloaded
off the ship and then delivered
to the BOP dealer. After a new
vehicle inspection and demo
from manager Glenn Cameron,
I was itching to hit the road the
next day and head to Northland
for duck opening weekend.
