b'FeatureThese two species, porae and trevally both hit Gillies jigs when fished in 25m drifting over some foul. So, what will this spring bring withStuart Hill with a solid 52cm trevally temperatures resembling a more normaltaken on a Gillies Intruder jig.winter and spring season? It would be a guess however I suspect we may see a slightly later start to the full spring fishing craziness with winter holding on a little longer than the previous winters and proper large workups not starting until October. The Thames has had some good fishing this season and so this would be a good area to keep exploring and visiting during Sep-Oct.This time of season is really the time to keep working the jigs and move around until you find the fish. If you are chasing workups then you need to start with good intel of where the recent activity has been boiling, keep an ear out for any fishy business on the northwestern side of Coromandel as it has been firing. The Firth as already mentioned is worth thinking about however if you are clueless when departing the boat ramp then a visit to the reefs and drop-offs around Little Barrier would be one of my favourite locations to be poking around with 100gm slow pitch jigs or slider type lures. Early morning along the southwestern shoreline as it plunges into deeper water can yield good bags of fish.24FISHING IN GODZONE SEP/OCT 2023'
