of Coromandel township. I have
stayed here often over the past
five years, and it is so well set up
for visiting anglers. Jen and Dave,
the owners of Anglers Lodge put
us up in one of their great two-
bedroom cabins for the night.
There is plenty of room to
park boats, a tractor for boat
launching, with a spa, swimming
pool, awesome filleting station
by a creek, cabin and camping
accommodation options and
even their own shop with bait,
salt ice and good coffee!
If you don’t own a boat, then
no problem as the lodge also
has their own charter boat on
site with an experienced local
skipper to provide morning or
afternoon trips. All the tackle
and bait are provided over the
approximate four-hour trip, and
the price is based on the number
of people on board, with up to a
maximum of five people on board.
The charter boat can also drop
keen rock anglers on one of the
nearby islands straight out in
front of the lodge to fish land-
based for only $90 per person.
The writer scored a fat 40cm+
pannie which was kept for
dinner back at the lodge.
Checking in to Anglers Lodge
after fishing on the first day.
Softbaits were again the
best performers on day two,
with this snapper falling to
a Crush City Jerk 5".

"On my first cast using the pink/green Bombshell softbait, I
had a nice 44cm snapper landed which was kept for dinner
back at Anglers Lodge, where we were going to stay..."
