We did manage to get it out a few times in the end, but the bite was so consistent right through the day from 7am till after 9pm that we really didn't get a lot of opportunity. We caught a staggering 26 fish on Day 1 - five each to four anglers, and six for the other. We had lost count of fish we had up in the spread, strikes, and dropped fish, it was just too chaotic! After another one of Lori's delicious meals, we fell into bed exhausted, and before we knew it Day 2 dawned, and we had a double before 7am and two more before 7.30am. We were in for another big day by the looks of it! The sea was eerily flat, not a ripple, just a small gentle swell. The mornings bite had slowed down from the day before, but by lunchtime we had still caught 10 fish. It felt different from the day before, I think we had settled into the rhythm and systems and had gained so many valuable lessons from the day before. The marlin were just as plentiful as the day before, if not more. We had marlin free jumping acrobatic aerial displays beside the boat as we caught fish, and fluorescent blue lit marlin circling bait schools directly underneath us as we leadered fish. MARLIN MADNESS Lori was getting a real workout In the following two hours, all fivefrom the amazing marlin action, anglers had caught a marlin and bywith Greg lending a hand.9.30am I was back on the rod fighting my second fish. The day continued with complete and utter marlin madness. Every time we put the lures back out after catching one, we would hook up again within several minutes, more than once even hooking up as the lure was being put back out in the spread. We often had 4-6 marlin in the spread, and marlin would be feeding on the meatballs right beside us as we fought fish. The adrenaline was pumping, the sun was scorching, the water was as flat as a pancake, and we had the biggest grins on our faces. We switched and changed lures, trying new ones as others caught fish. Some of the fish were easy to bring in, others total nasties. We even had 9/0 and 10/0 7691 hooks straighten, leaders destroyed with bill rash, and lost a few lures when we had double and triple hook-ups and lines crossed.46FISHING IN GODZONE MAR/APR 2021"
