b'SOFTBAITINGFrom daylight to about 11am the fish will be found in the shallow water but as the sun climbs in the sky and is higher overhead, they tend to move out and back into deeper water.When we arrived at Slipper Island and set up our first drift, we killed the outboard and silently drifted in closer with the boats momentum.The first thing I noticed was how clear the water was, it looked like the water of a tropical destination such as Fiji or the Cook Islands!The water visibility was outstanding, and we could easily see the bottom several metres below.HOT ATOMIC On my very first cast and I hooked up to a good snapper that pulled line and put up a scrap.It managed to throw the hook somehow, it happens, and I called it as being rusty after having not been out fishing for over a month due to lockdown.We continued our drift which was ideal as we tracked along the coast with the outgoing tide and gentle swell keeping us parallel to the coastline.This isThe Z-Man Atomic perfect as the less you need to start upSunrise always produces fish for the writer.the motor and spook the fish ahead of your drift the better.Mike hooked up to a good pannie and I landed another,Gordon Bennett hooks up they were fat kelpies and put into theon his first cast of the day.chilly bin.The action was steady with strikes on nearly every cast and Mike was doing a great job of filming the action and snapper underwater on the Go-Pro.With such great water viz, we could even see snapper on the bottom when hooked trying to reef us in the kelp.We were using Zman softbaits which are tough and they simply last ages which is why I use them, today was another hot day for the Atomic Sunrise 5 Jerkshadz.It never lets me down and over the next two hours I caught my limit on the bright orange lure.Mike was also getting fish using it and a few on the new Darterz Beer Run just to mix it up.54FISHING IN GODZONE NOV/DEC 2021'
