Slipper to fish out of the wind and
cast softbaits into the shallows.
The swirling wind however made
this hard and we hunted along
the northern coastline outside of
the new HPA area softbaiting.
Standing up on the casting deck
and the boat provides top space for
an angler to position themselves
and fire lures out and work ahead of
the drift. The black powder coated
bow rail is great to lean against
when fishing, while the U-DEK
underfoot gives sure footing.
Mike and I switched from the
casting deck to the cockpit taking
turns and with so much space in
the boat, it would easily suit 3-4
anglers comfortably. The wind
never died down to the forecast 10
knots and with time running out,
we couldn’t fish all day as Mike had
to head to Auckland that afternoon
to catch his plane the next day.
Mike puts the boat through
its paces off Slipper Island.
