positive pro-active 
steps we can take on 
the water to contribute 
to the well-being of 
our fishery, far away 
from parliament. The 
remarkable thing is 
that there is power in numbers and 
rather than wondering if your vote or 
voice counted for anything, making 
a difference to the fish you catch 
and the environment you fish in 
can add up to a healthier fishery for 
future generations.
The benefits add up when every 
fisher saves a few more fish from 
preventable death and returns them 
to the water to breed. Preventing 
fish mortality can be surprisingly 
simple, requiring only a few minor 
changes to your fishing methods.
When bait fishing for species 
like snapper, use 7/0 hooks or 
larger so it is difficult for smaller 
fish to swallow the hook.
Non-offset circle hooks like 
Black Magic KLT hooks are an 
excellent choice for bait fishing.
