b'TRACTOR LAUNCHFeature The snapper fishing was on fireThe next morning, we organised in the morning with overcastwith Dave to launch our centre conditions, Graeme from Lanza Rods landed several fish on jigs. console using the tractor on the ramp over the road and along the one-way bridge. It is a lot of fun jumping into the boat and taking the short ride hitched to the tractor down the road to the ramp.It was an overcast morning with wind already picking up to drive a messy half metre swell and chop onto the beach as we launched. The forecast was for the wind dying out as the day went on and with a new moon phase, we hoped for good conditions to get onto the fish.We headed out past the nearby islands and ensured we were well south of the Black Rocks (Motukawao Islands) which is now a no-fish HPA area after the recent changes for the Hauraki Gulf by the Government. It was just before 8am which was high tide, and we found plenty of bait fish with sign hard on the bottom to drop lures down onto, while I scanned out into the gulf looking for tell-tale diving gannets with the binos. The dolphins and gannets arrived in force, and the fishing went up a few gears with snapper hitting the lures as soon as they dropped to the bottom.12FISHING IN GODZONE MAGAZINE'
